NUIT_BLANCHE_TORONTO
2024.10.5-6
```
a project that plays with person detection and mutual interaction. at two separate locations, devices connect when cameras detect people on both ends simultaneously. those caught on screen have the choice to engage or walk away. will you shy away from contact or seize the opportunity to let a seemingly random connection blossom into a shared memory?
```
as a response to the 2024 nuit blanche curatorial theme “bridging distance”, “answer the call” is a parody of data driven mediation and a celebration of chance encounters. here participants are not being connected to each other based on a plethora of collected data, but on their most basic shared attribute + “right place right time”.
when humans are detected on both ends simultaneously, the screens become a portal to the second physical location and the phones connect.
otherwise, the line is dead and the display is a mirror.
